“The Cabin in the Woods”

I can’t help myself, this has to be on the list, it’s too good not to be discussed (again). Simply, it’s an absolutely brilliant deconstruction of horror film about the classic clichés of the genre. It manages to intertwine familiar character archetypes and some how make them all truly likable, the best however are the two white collar masters controlling ‘everything’.

I’m sure there are some people out there who’ve yet to see this film, so I’d rather not go into much detail about the films plot and ending, I will say this; it’s about five college kids going to a remote cabin in the woods, who’re suddenly attacked by bloody thirsty creatures…and that’s the tip of the iceberg. Trust me when I tell, it gets better from there, it’s not at all what you think it is in the long run, and it has one of the best endings to horror film I’ve seen in years. The movie has great common ground for people who’re also not major fans of horror, it is funny, because of the extreme meta-ness the movie evokes. Tribute it to Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard air tight screenplay.
