“The Innkeepers”

I ain’t ‘fraid no ghosts! Yeah…SURE, watch this movie, because apparently ghosts CAN kill. Ti West has this weird obsession with hotel/lodges/motels that are deemed haunted. The movie is set in the ‘real-life’ haunted Inn known as the Yankee Pedlar Inn, where the ghost of Madeline O’Malley roams the halls. It’s the last night of the hotels open status before being closed down forever, Claire and Luke (employees of the Yankee), being the ghost hunting enthusiasts they are decide to find absolute proof that the ghost of Ms. O’Malley exists.

[Ti] West is a director I feel many horror fans should open up to, his style and aesthetics are just the refreshing ideals the supernatural genre needs. In a world where found footage horror is all the rage, it’s nice to have a good old fashion  ghost story being told the classic 70s cinema style way. West looks to Kubrick & even Tobe Hooper for inspiration. The ending is one of the best and most heart pounding moments in the genre and gives us a fulfilling end to this creepy tale.

Written & Directed by: Ti West

Starring: Sara Paxton, Pat Healy, Kelly McGillis, Alison Bartlett, Jake Ryan, and Lena Dunham

“The Innkeepers” is streaming on Netflix Instant
