“Black Swan”

Ok, not REEEALLY a horror movie per-say, this one may be a bit of a cheat. It’s a Darren Aronofsky movie that takes us on hypnotic journey into the underworld of the NYC ballet lifestyle. Natalie Portman took home her first Best Actress Oscar, playing a woman who’s unable to cope with her surroundings and becomes entangled in a game of lies, deceit, and murder.

Actually, wait a minute… NO, this is a horror movie! A young ballerina, abusing her mind and body, being driven into complete and utter madness, have frightening visions that resonate her life, and the ballet she’s performing? For crying out loud, Milia Kunis is playing another psychosexual she-bitch (anyone remember “American Psycho 2”)! Natalie Portman turns into a fucking black bird creature in front of an entire audience, granted she was going cuckoo mentally (no pun intended), but it was a very striking, and terrifying moment. After I saw this movie in theaters, never did I imagine walking out so shaken and disturbed by such a movie. But then again, I shouldn’t expect less from the director of “Pi” and “Requiem for a Dream”.

Directed by: Darren Aronofsky

Written by: Mark Heyman, Andres Heinz, and John J. McLaughlin

Starring: Natalie Portman, Milia Kunis, Vincent Cassel, Barbara Hershey, Winona Ryder, Benjamin Millepied, and Janet Montgomery

“Black Swan” is available on iTunes.
