“Let Me In”

The 2008 original Scandinavian film, “Let the Right One In” is a marvel of a movie; its a salem, mellow, cold-chill vampire drama, based on a novel that takes it farther than the film ever could. That’s the one thing I think it was holding itself back, it didn’t go all the way in the horror department, and that’s not a bad thing, I still LOVE the movie. But, this is one of the rare occasions where the remake does it better.

Set in the Regan-era of America, a bullied young boy befriends his new apartment neighbor, a young girl with a dark secret…a vampire. She lives in secrecy with her special guardian, who will do just about anything for, more so than what a father would do for their child. While “Let Me In”, is similar to the original in many respects, it makes enough changes to stand on its own, it doesn’t add insult to the inspiration.

Written & Directed by: Matt Reeves

Starring: Kodi Smit-McPhee, Chloë Grace Moretz, Richard Jenkins, Cara Buono, Sasha Barrese, and Elias Koteas

“Let Me In” is available on iTunes & “Let the Right One In” is available on Netflix instant.
