“V/H/S 1 & 2”

The “V/H/S” films are this generations new “Creepshow”, a horror anthology fit rightfully so for todays horror film buffs. Part 1 takes the concept of found footage structure and manages to find a new way to present itself, as a few film pals are in search for an infamous tape. They riffle through the pile and watch different, horrifying, stories unfold. While the ending may be a bit tad vanilla, but the movie as a whole is gratifying enough for most. The best segment for me would be the motel story, ‘Second Honeymoon’, directed by hotel horror enthusiast Ti West.

“V/H/S 2”, is a whopping improvement over its somewhat successful predecessor, in just about every way, the stories are far more potent, and find a way to be self aware for it’s own good. Not only that, but I found this sequel to be far more entertaining and well paced than Part 1. ‘A Ride in the Park’ is probably the best of the bunch, the director managed to utitlize the GoPro camera in ways I never imagined. Great films all around, I pray for more, rather than continuous “Paranormal Activity” films.
